:Yes, quite good idea. The current template system had been created by BlueGoblin7 a good while ago and it would be a really good idea to improve it. But I think it'd be better to allow people to use various widths for the images, as some may be vertical and other horizontal etc. We could even think of a template who would change years all by itself, but it's perhaps better, as we don't have that much good images, to go on cyclically and start again in January with the same image than the previous year. In that case, nothing'd keep us from changing an image from time to time if needed. == Images from Wikimedia Commons ==
Hiya. I've considered "stealing" a few images from Wikimedia Commons, where images are uploaded under free licenses similiar to our own. That leaves me thinking that importing such images should be fairly straight forward... Except that the license requires the original author be credited. Do we have an established procedure to allow for this? Or could/should we create one? Regards, --Medic (talk) 11:04, 12 January 2014 (EET)
Naming categories
Hullo. I've had a go at categorizing a few images today, and while doing that I've moved :Category:Belt to :Category:Belts, as I believed the plural to be standard when naming categories (as I'm used to from both Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and da.scoutwiki). However, as I explored the category tree further I've noticed that quite a few categories are named in the singular, whilst many others are named in the plural. Thus, I doubt if there is consensus in the naming of categories. Can anyone help me as to what best practice is on ScoutMedia? Or, if one doesn't exist... should we agree on a way of naming categories, so as to stave off confusion later on? Knecker images

Hello all,

With the necker images, could we possibly upload them with better titles? (It'll also help us move up Google searches!). I'm thinking either something like Red and Blue striped Knecker, or, even better, xxx Scout Troop's Knecker!

Thanks,

Bluegoblin7 20:37, 2 April 2008 (EEST)

Hello BG7,
I don't think it is a good idea, because that way anybody can see and use the necker as well. If a French renames its necker "foulard_bleu_et_blanc.svg", you won't understand what it means, and it will be worst if an Italian names it "Sciarpa della Bologna 3 AGESCI.svg" … And if that's the same colors as your own neckerchief, you won't like it to be named after this Italian troop. So if we keep with colors it's OK for everybody.
Keeping the NeckGen's names allows you to keep from uploading twice the same necker, too. Akela -Haooow ! 21:03, 2 April 2008 (EEST)
Hmm... i'm not convinced. Surely it wouldn't matter if it was uploaded twice? We could always perform a merge and rename to a generic one.
If someone is going to Google search a specific knecker, they're not going to use HEX colours, they'll use the names. Also, what about users who come here looking for their knecker, but have no idea about the codes - they're not all computer people!
Permission to show you what I mean, and if it gets screwed up, i'll revert?
Thanks,
